In many countries a healthy lifestyle is expected to become a criterion in obtaining healthcare services. As we understand lifestyle as a merely individual matter, what could be the consequences for health care if individual responsibility would be a key principle in allocating health care services? We will illustrate the ethical and philosophical relevance of this question with the case of obesity.
