Recently, Belgium’s Court of Audit submitted a report on the scientific support of our federal healthcare policy to the Parliament. The report examines if and how the federal government has put into place a research system, how it works and is being financed, its capacity, output and the way in which government makes use of all this knowledge. Now that ‘evidence based medecine’ is becoming standard, it’s legitimate to ask for ‘evidence based policy making’ too. This, however, has not been the case in Belgium so far.
