Many were skeptical of the Keynesian inspired stimulus packages governments enacted in the aftermath of the financial crisis. The most important, and controversial, stimulus package was definitely the American Recovery and Re-Investment Act (ARRA). Today, while our economies are prudently recovering, we’re starting to see and measure their benefits. According to this publication from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, the ARRA had the important secondary effect of keeping 6 million Americans out of poverty in 2009.
