In its third annual report, the Centre for Equal Opportunities and Opposition to Racism analyzes Belgium’s migration policies throughout 2009. Contrary to the preceding year, 2009 turned out to be the year in which the federal government came into action, carrying out a regularization based on the principle of ‘enduring anchoring’. While the topic of economic migration has ceased to be a priority since the economic crisis has hit the country, the Centre continues to plead for a transparent, clear-cut and proactive migration policy.
