Goals and means
The Itinera Institute translates its mission into the following goals and means:

• To show the state of necessity and the state of urgency of policy reform in Belgium.
• To demonstrate the potential of policy reform as a positive alternative for general and gradual decline.
• To develop and promote agendas for long term policy reform, both to policy makers across the board and to the general public.
• To be a policy watch dog and policy ground breaker in key areas: economy, education and innovation, employment, energy & environment, government & taxation, healthcare, migration & integration, pensions, and poverty & inequality.
• To bring the international perspective and the long term interest of future generations on the agenda.
• To empower the wealth of international policy studies in the national and regional context.
• To provide new, reliable and practical information for policy choice.
• To engage in societal debate and spread the message via the mass media.

The tools of the Itinera Institute are: website, newsletters, interviews, opinion articles, press conferences, seminars, reports, international speakers, international network.

Think-tank and do-tank
The Itinera Institute functions both as a think-tank and as a do-tank. As a think-tank the institute focuses on long term challenges, international benchmarking, and objective data as a basis to develop an agenda for policy reform for Belgium and its regions. As a do-tank the institute tackles short term policy debates and actively promotes its proposals in all relevant forums.
