prof. dr. Marc De Vos Director marc.devos@itinerainstitute.org Marc De Vos holds a Licentiate and Doctorate in Law (Universiteit Gent), a Master in Social Law (Université Libre de Bruxelles), and a Master of Laws (Harvard University). He is the director of the Itinera Institute and teaches Belgian, European and international employment and labour law, as well as American law, at Ghent University and the University of Brussels (VUB). He frequently publishes, lectures and debates on issues of labour and employment law, European integration, labour market reform, pensions, healthcare, ageing and the welfare state, both nationally and internationally, and in academic, professional and policy circles, as well as in the media.

Ivan Van de Cloot Chief Economist ivan.vandecloot@itinerainstitute.org Ivan Van de Cloot studied economics at the University of Antwerp and was research assistant for two years in the domain of public finances. As a consultant he helped preparing the liberalisation of the gas and electricity market in Belgium. Afterwards he worked as an economist for the research department of ING/BBL for 6 years. On top of cyclical analysis he specialized in the analysis of structural characteristics of the Belgian economy. Ivan wrote about pensions but also about the liberalisation of railway traffic, economic aspects of immigration, entrepreneurship and healthcare. As a commentator for financial and economic events, he often appears in the written and audio-visual media. He is equally guest professor at the Hogeschool - Universiteit Brussel and has a column in De Tijd. Ivan Van de Cloot is for Itinera author of The pension book and co-author of the Grey gold, in which a strategic vision is developed for respectively our pension system and elder care.

Nancy Vercammen Director of operations, communication and marketing Nancy.vercammen@itinerainstitute.org Nancy Vercammen graduated as an Industrial Engineer for the Farming- and foodindustries at Ghent, followed by a Postgraduate Marketing. She built her professional career as a Communications Director and spokeswoman of the VDAB. As a spokesperson, she regularly appeared in leading written and audiovisual media. Afterwards she became Communications Director at GAIA working on different strategies such as brand positioning, Corporate Communications and the development of long-term fundraising. She often performs as a guest lecturer for communication courses and guest speaker at various forums on communications. |

prof. dr. Johan Albrecht Senior Fellow johan.albrecht@itinerainstitute.org Johan Albrecht studied at the universities of Ghent and Oxford and has a PhD in environmental economics from Ghent University. A senior fellow at the Itinera Institute, he teaches economic analysis of environmental law and environmental economics at Ghent University, as well as a course on the US economy (Antwerp University, MA American Studies). He is the author of two books and over thirty publications in international journals and volumes. As scientific advisor, he worked for Belgian and international organisations.

prof. dr. Jean Hindriks Senior Fellow jean.hindriks@itinerainstitute.org Jean Hindriks obtained his BA, MA and PhD in Economics at the University of Namur. A former lecturer in economics at the University of Exeter and at Queen Mary, University of London, he is a senior fellow at the Itinera Institute and professor in Economics at the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL). He also serves as co-director of Center of Operations Research and Economics (CORE) and as director of Undergraduate Studies in Economics and Management at the UCL. A co-editor of several academic journals and a member of the International Monetary Fund’s panel of fiscal experts, he has published widely and internationally on issues of public economics and political economy.

Etienne De Callataÿ Senior Fellow etienne.decallatay@itinerainstitute.org Etienne de Callataÿ studied economics at the Facultés de Namur and the London School of Economics. He is currently chief economist at Bank Degroof and Chairman of Degroof Fund Management Company (DFMC). He also is guest lecturer at the Facultés de Namur and the UCL. He has published many articles on government financing, such as ageing, social security and federalism.

Pieter Van Herck Senior Fellow pieter.vanherck@itinerainstitute.org Pieter Van Herck studied Medico-Social Sciences at the KU Leuven, after which he obtained a Master in Management and a Postgraduate in Finance. He obtained a PhD in Public Health (2012). Being a researcher at the KU Leuven, he coordinated and published about multiple studies and projects commissioned by, or in partnership with, the Belgian Health Care Knowledge Centre and Public Health government. His core expertise concerns the relation between quality and financing of health care, and various incentive strategies (financial as well as non financial) to hold divers stakeholders of care accountable for quality and value.

Stefan Mercier Junior Fellow stefan.mercier@itinerainstitute.org Stefan Mercier studied at the Université Libre de Bruxelles and obtained a Master in Political Science at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in 2010. Stefan joined the Itinera-team in October 2012. He was previously a representative of a Brazilian company in the pharmaceutical and medical industry, in which he advised European companies in their investment plans in Brazil. Stefan has also worked for Bell Pottinger Public Affairs and Michel International Relations. |

Marijn Verschelde Visiting Fellow marijn.verschelde@itinerainstitute.org Marijn Verschelde holds a master and doctor in economical sciences (University of Ghent) and graduated as research master in economics (University of Louvain-la-neuve) He is a post-doctoral researcher at Ghent University with specialisations in efficiency and productivity. He mainly researches the inefficiencies and injustices in the public sector ( e.g. the local police, the secondary education and prisons) Recently he has worked as a consultant for a private bank and contributed to a project for the National Bank about competitiveness in the industry. |

He is professor at Gent University and Brussels University. He specializes mainly in health economic evaluations of medical technologies, pharmaceutical drugs and preventive health actions in various medical areas (Cardiology, dermatology, diabetes, gastroenterology, infectiology, clinical biology, Otolaryngology, oncology, orthopedics, phychiatry and urology.)

prof. dr. Dave Sinardet Visiting fellow dave.sinardet@itinerainstitute.org Dave Sinardet is doctor in political and social sciences at the University of Antwerp. He is a post doctoral researcher of FWO Vlaanderen and also a part-time professor at the Facultés Universitaires Saint-Louis and the VUB. He is an expert in state reform and Belgian community issues. He dedicates his research and teaching to federalism, nationalism, language politics, political decision-making processes, consensus democracy, political communication and public opinion. |

Edoardo Traversa Visiting Fellow edoardo.traversa@itinerainstitute.org Edoardo Traversa holds a law degree (UCL), a doctorate in tax law (UCL and University of Bologna) and a diploma in German law (Humboldt-Universität-Berlin). He is professor in tax law at Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL). His courses and research domains mainly cover fiscal and financial federalism, interaction between tax systems and public policies, development of the European tax system and international aspects of tax systems of enterprises. Koen Schoors Visiting Fellow koen.schoors@itinerainstitute.org Koen Schoors studied economics at Ghent University and Catholic University of Leuven and obtained a PhD at University Ghent and a postgraduate at Oxford. He is professor economics at Ghent University and his main research domains encompass banking and financing, corporate finance and foreign direct investments. He is director of CERISE (Centre for Russian International Socio-Political and Economic Studies) and is often working on business restructuring, both in academics as in practice. He also often appears as guest and commentator in Belgian media. |

Benoit Gailly Visiting Fellow benoit.gailly@itinerainstitute.org Benoit Gailly has a Master and a PhD in Applied Sciences from the Université Catholique de Louvain, a European Master in Society, Science and Technology from Roskilde University and an MBA from INSEAD. He teaches innovation management and strategy at Master and Executive level at the Louvain School of Management. His research focuses on innovation-based strategies and innovation and entrepreneurship support systems. He is a former manager at McKinsey, Board member and advisor for several companies (both large firms and start-ups) and expert for the European Commission and the author of numerous publications. |

Bruno Colmant Visiting Fellow bruno.colmant@itinerainstitute.org Bruno Colmant holds a Master Degree in Business Administration (ULB), a Master Degree in Tax Law (ESSF-ICHEC), a Master of Sciences in Administration (Purdue University, USA) and a Ph.D. in Applied Economics (ULB). He is a member of the Royal Academy of Belgium and teaches financial accounting and market finance in several Belgian and foreign universities. He has authored or co-authored more than 40 books in the fields of accounting, finance and economics.
